Momentum Exception
This play illustrates why the BJ must drop a bean bag at the spot where the defender intercepts the ball as the catch is made inside the 5 yard line and his momentum takes him into the end zone. If the defender would have fallen down or have been tackled in the end zone, his team would be given the ball 1st and 10 from the 3 yard line as that is where the ball was possessed under the momentum exception.
