Mechanics - Punt Out Of Bounds On this play, if the LJ knows where the ball went out of bounds, he should move directly to the spot. If the LJ is unsure of where the ball went out of bounds, he should first stop the clock and move downfield to a location that is clearly beyond where the punt may have left the field. The LJ will now get his hand over his head and walk back toward the LOS and the R will stop the LJ where he believes the ball went out of bounds.
